Worn by || Sophie Allen

This girls style though . . . .
I am loving fashion blogger Sophie Allen's take on what to wear on a night out if you aren't completely sold on the whole over the top party look.
She completes her outfit effortlessly with the Theo xl portfolio clutch bag which you can grab in the sale here:

Faded Threads X Rianna Phillips

We are loving this street style by fashion and lifestyle blogger Mallory Morris all the way over in Cincinnati <3
She wears the Cash Only printed portfolio clutch with detachable cross body chain strap. The print is inspired by iconic and famous fonts seen on the brands and labels we know and love - with an added Rianna Phillips hand drawn stencil style :-)

Worn by || Irena D - Q&A

It's no secret that fashion bloggers and their evolving style massively inspires my design process. But what about when you mix music with fashion? Manchester based singer/songwriter Irena D documents her day to day style whilst also being an immensely talented musician. She styled up the new #JUSTSAYIN portfolio clutch bag and also allowed me to step into her world for 5 mins . . .

Rianna: Tell us a little bit about your life, where were you born and when did you first discover you were interested in music & fashion?

Irena: I was born in Odessa, Ukraine. My grandmother was a professional folk singer and my mother was a music teacher so I believe my destiny was predetermined haha, I remember myself singing in front of a big audience at the age of four without any fear, I think it is in my genes. It was quite obvious for me from the very early age that my life will be dedicated to music and singing. In terms of my passion for fashion, when I was a little girl I used to dress in my mother clothes (which was quite quirky and flamboyant) so the foundation for my "alternative" fashion vision was laid in the extravagant era of the last years of the Soviet Union (crazy times haha)

Rianna: I love your music and am a huge fan of your song ‘Falling’, it’s my new ‘getting ready for a night out’ song! What inspired you to write it? Do you get ready for a night out listening to it too?! If not what’s your fave party song?!

Irena:  The story behind it is rather tragic actually, after a very painful break-up I entered quite a difficult time of my life which reflected on the song lyrics. I guess in order to write a good song you must express your true feelings and emotions based on the experience. My favourite party song? There are too many of them but one of my newest discoveries is Midnight Magic's ‘Beam Me Up’

Rianna: Your fashion style is very eclectic and you tend to embrace multiple looks throughout your blog, but do you have a favourite look?

Irena: My favourite look combines two styles - Extravagantly feminine and off duty singer haha!

Rianna: Does music influence your fashion decisions at all? Do any particular artists inspire your fashion style?

Irena: I think that both things are closely connected, it might sound strange but while composing a song I simultaneously create an outfit for my performance juxtaposing sounds, shapes and colours. I am also very inspired by the fashion style of Roisin Murphy, Debbie Harry and Alison Goldfrapp

Rianna: Which musicians inspire your work?

Irena: Kate Bush, Grace Jones, Madonna, Debbie Harry

Rianna: If you could only pick 3 items from your wardrobe (to save from the jaws of a garment eating monster!) which 3 pieces would you choose?

Irena: All Saints leather jacket, studded heels by Banana Republic and my Prada bag

Rianna: Where are your top 5 places/restaurants/bars/shops in Manchester?

Tee: H&M
Heels : Banana Republic

Rianna X Personal Style

Spring is here! Things to celebrate:
* No need for thousands of layers
*no longer suffering from frozen ankles at every attempt of wearing cropped skinnies and pumps
*daffodils are sprouting up left, right and center!

Moving on . . .
Unless I officially have to head to a meeting in Manchester or skype a client on the other side of the world I don't tend to get dressed up whilst working in the studio. I could pretend it's all extremely glamorous but we all know it's way comfier in our fave grey marl t-shirt and pair of jeans. So here is a quick photo op from last week.

The general assortment of objects were needed for a day half spent working on a limited edition collection (sign up to shop it first) and the rest of the day working with 1st year Manchester School of Art students where I lecture one day a week.

A few collections I'm working on are nearing completion so my iPad & sketchbook are being dragged about with me everywhere, hence the need for the uber sleek digitally printed leather Valetta iPad sleeve. New fabrics are being introduced, adaptations to existing designs are being developed and the e-boutique has slipped into spring mode. There is never a dull day!

Rianna X Elder Tote

Recently I made a trip to Media City to photograph the fabulous Kate Millar
Emerged in the absolutely breathtaking architecture, it was also the perfect opportunity to document my own personal style. For me, the tote bags prove the most practical for my hectic lifestyle. I do not travel lightly, whether I'm off for a browse around town or boarding a flight. I need a lot of stuff. The usually culprits attached to me at all times are my Nikon bridge camera, Nokia Lumia 1020 (which gives the Nikon a run for its money - it's a phone with a 41 mega pixel camera) definitely more camera than phone. The world could possibly crumble when I'm without my iPad and I'd also be lost without a filofax. I have 2! One for business and one for pleasure. This Alexander Wang leather sleeveless jacket was an amazing sale purchase, i live in it! There are cashmere roll ups around each arm hole which are held in place with a shiny stainless steel popper button. This quilted dress was a recent purchase from the Primark section in Selfridges, Trafford. It was around £16.

Style in focus || Kate Millar

The career path into the fashion industry can start in a very similar place for many of us. Myself and Kate Millar both studied at the same university, both held down part time sales assistant jobs throughout uni, both completed a prep year in Art Foundation studies and both graduated with a portfolio of work geared up to set us off in the unpredictable and exciting trade called ‘Fashion’.
A few years on its safe to say we are still fully immersed in the fashion industry . . . and very happily too I may add!
Although our paths may be very samey, we’ve drifted down separate channels and our own personal styles have evolved from what they were once upon a time. Kates eye for high street fashion is impeccable. If I’m going on holiday and have left it to the last minute to shop a summer wardrobe, I go to Kate. She can tell me which shop has what, in what colour and how much it is. Even better she can alert me to which website is best to buy it from online.

We caught up last week in the beautiful (and extremely windy) urban landscape of Media City where we put Kates styling skills to the test. What would she choose to style with her Rianna Phillips Affinity portfolio clutch bag? As always . . . her outfit options didn't disappoint.

Tell us a little about your job
I work as a Menswear Fashion Designer at a suppliers in Manchester called Whispering Smith, working for a suppliers means getting to work with loads of different brands which is great as your always working on something new
What made you want to be apart of the fashion industry?
I've always been quite a creative person with a love for fashion and styling so I think it was a natural progression into design. I also have a fashion blog which I love as it helps to keep me up to date with all the latest trends and inspirations along with documenting my own outfits - www.beyondfashion.co.uk

Where do you shop?
I'm obsessed with online shopping at the moment, I'd say my favourite is Missguided...they're always so up to date with trends. I'm also a big fan of Boohoo, ASOS and Miss Pap. Not to forget my favourite from the highstreet which is Topshop.

What are your go-to staple pieces in your wardrobe?
1) Black leather jacket that has a detachable fur collar. Ideal for a day to evening look and can be styled together with almost anything.
2) Gold chain necklaces...I'm getting quite a collection but love the really chunky ones which are perfect for adding an edgy look to any outfit, especially as I wear a lot of girly pastel shades.
3) Vintage denim over-sized shirts, I have so many but they're great for throwing on over a dress or co-ord for a simple and easy outfit.
4) Topshop Joni jeans, I think these could be the greatest jeans ever made, so comfy and I love the high waist fit...perfect with a crop tee.

What is your most treasured possession in your wardrobe?
I would say some of my vintage pieces but picking just 1 is so hard!! I also have a charm bracelet that was passed down to me by my Grandma, it's so beautiful and intricate...they don't make bracelets like it anymore.

Where are your favourite places to grab a bite?
I'm a massive fan of afternoon tea and love any excuse to try out a new one...I recently went to 'The One Aldwych' in London for Charlie and the Chocolate Factory themed afternoon tea which was so fun and quirky.
